Veronica Showers is a graduate of Colorado State University with a B.A. in Political Science. She began her career working at the State House of Representatives of Colorado, and California, and then served as a Congressional Aide to United States Congresswomen Dianne DeGette. Her transition to higher education occurred early in her career, where she focused efforts on teacher education and advancement. During these focused efforts, Veronica developed a passion for scholarly publishing and joined the Aries Systems Corporation, where she has excelled as Client Development Manager for the last eight years. While working for Aries Systems Corporation, she has worked with publishers in the US including PLoS, APA and ASCO, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Belgium, and Brazil (e.g. Revista Brasileira de Recursos Hídricos, Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria). Veronica also serves as Co-Chair for the Society for Scholarly Publishers Development Committee, is a member of the Council of Science Editors Marketing Committee, and is a member of International Society of Managing and Technical Editors.
